Document and Record Your Maintenance Efforts

Using work orders makes highway department maintenance easier by providing a clear, organized way to plan, assign, and track tasks. They help crews know exactly what needs to be done, where, and when—whether it’s fixing potholes, replacing signs, or cleaning culverts. Work orders also create a record of completed jobs, making it simple to document labor, materials, and equipment used. This not only keeps operations running smoothly but also ensures better accountability, reporting, and long-term planning.

Completed Work Order Screen

Creating a work order on Roadwurx is just as simple as posting on social media, but without the drama.

Once you have created a work order, you can either print it and hand it off to an assigned crew or, if you have allowed crew members access to Roadwurx, they can look up the work order themselves. Your work orders also provide a space for feedback in case the crew makes note of any further issues at the location.

Roadwurx allows you to easily upload images to each work order, so you can take before and after photos to further document the work performed.

Create a work order from a phone call

Create a Work Order From a Phone Call

Since so much of a highway maintenance department's work begins with a phone call from a concerned resident, Roadwurx has made it easy to use a phone call's information to create a new work order. After you have entered a phone call, you'll see a button labelled "Create Work Order" in the bottom toolbar. Simply press that button and all of the call's data will be automatically flowed into the work order form. Don't worry, the call data remains in your call log. The information is simply copied to a new work order. Then, all you have to do is assign the job to someone.
